AI-Driven Infusion Advancement Showcases Taiwan’s Independent R&D and Manufacturing Power

The Taipei Medical University (TMU) Healthcare System has fully implemented the “SmartMed Infusion System” developed by Ingrasys, becoming Taiwan’s first medical network to adopt a fully connected, prescription-linked smart infusion solution. The system integrates Needleless’s high-quality infusion sets to create an intelligent, closed-loop medication administration platform that enhances both patient safety and clinical efficiency.

The TMU healthcare network, comprising TMU Hospital, Wan Fang Hospital, Shuang Ho Hospital, and the New People’s Hospital, has deployed 1,080 smart infusion pumps. Fully integrated with its HIS 3.0 system, the solution automatically cross-verifies patient, prescription, and medication data while auto-configuring infusion parameters. Within the first three months of operation, the system successfully intercepted 136 potential near misses—achieving a 0.44% error prevention rate—demonstrating its outstanding capability in safeguarding patient safety.

As a core manufacturing partner in the SmartMed Infusion System, Needleless is responsible for the design and production of multiple smart-connected infusion sets under ISO 13485-compliant processes. The Chairman of Needleless stated, “The advancement of smart healthcare relies not only on AI and software, but equally on innovation in critical infusion hardware.
